Genevieve Chadwick

Ulladulla, New South Wales, Australia

Biography

PFC first met and recorded Genevieve Chadwick in Australia and the team was struck by her natural talent and contagious spirit. Likened to the great Janis Joplin and referred to as “Australia’s answer to Melissa Etheridge”, Genevieve is an extraordinary artist and energetic performer. Her gravelly voice and original style of blues and roots have given this singer/songwriter from the Australian South Coast a loyal and ever-growing following.

Genevieve was also selected as one of only three Australian artists to become part of the global Playing For Change music project, which in turn saw her play Bluesfest at Byron Bay and and support Joan Armatrading and Ben Caplin on their Australian sideshows. PFC is thrilled to have recently produced Genevieve’s new self-titled album, which she recorded with PFC band members Roberto Luti, Orbe Ortiz and Peter Bunetta.

Some of the Major Music Festivals at which Genevieve has performed: Bluesfest  Byron Bay, Woodford Folk Festival Sydney Blues and Roots Festival Thredbo Blues Festival Queenscliff Music Festival, Backwater Blues Festival, Nannup Folk festival, Gulgong Folk Festival, Broadbeach Blues Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival.

How did you meet PFC and how was working with us?

I met the PFC family on their first trip to Australia. We filmed and recorded some songs together in a graffiti painted lane in St Peters, Sydney for some PFC videos. Working with the PFC family has been a truly amazing experience where I’ve meet some of the greatest, most heart filled people.

When and how did you get involved with music?

My mother says that when she was pregnant with me she went to a Dire Straits concert, I rolled around in her womb throughout the whole show, from that moment on she knew that music was going to be a great part of my life.

What does music mean to you?

Love, freedom, hope & release.

Do you have a favorite artist, album, or song?

Van Morrison, Dweller on the threshold.

Hometown
