Cara de Cobra
Cara de Cobra is a renowned Brazilian percussionist and music producer, widely recognized for his significant contributions to national percussion music. His first contact with the timbal came through his father, known as Ceguinho, also a percussionist in samba de roda. Later, he refined his techniques under the guidance of Carlinhos Brown, who became a central influence in his musical development.
He began his career in the percussive group Vai Quem Vem, founded by Carlinhos Brown, which later evolved into Timbalada. Cara de Cobra was a member of Timbalada for over 10 years. After leaving the group, he worked as a percussionist on various recordings, including Carlinhos Brown’s first solo album, Alfagamabetizado, which expanded his recognition in the music scene.
His versatility allowed him to navigate multiple musical genres, collaborating with artists in axé, sertanejo, and gospel, such as Luan Santana and Thalles Roberto. Notably, he collaborated with Ivete Sangalo for over 20 years. Beyond performing, Cara de Cobra has also distinguished himself as a music producer, working with artists like Gilmelândia and Séo Fernandes.
In 2024, he participated in the Ubaque Musical project, a content hub dedicated to strengthening the diverse styles of Bahian music, aiming for both national and international audiences. This project seeks to identify original talents and explore new percussive possibilities for artistic creation.
Cara de Cobra is also committed to percussion education, offering online lessons and leading workshops, such as the one held in Brejo da Madre de Deus, Pernambuco, which gathered over 100 participants and highlighted music as a tool for social transformation.
His journey reflects a deep dedication to Brazilian percussion, both in performance and music education, contributing to the appreciation and preservation of this art form.
