Let's take a trip back to Bamako, Mali...
Enjoy this Live Outside video of our friend, Malian singer-songwriter Habib Koité, performing "Baro," the title track from his third album.
"Baro" meaning "the chat," is about the relationship between Sanankuws—a joking relationship that is based on shared cultural histories and links people from specific families, ethnic groups, and castes. Often described as a “contract” or “pact,” this relationship bonds various ethnic groups within Mali in solidarity through humor, jokes, mock arguing and generally poking fun at each other.
