François Viguié

François has been an active member of Playing For Change since 2005. He first met Mark Johnson in Barcelona while he was working on PFC’s version of "Stand By Me," and introduced him to musicians like Clarence Bekker, Tal Ben Ari (Tula) and Pierre Minetti. He has since traveled the world working with the Playing For Change crew and the PFC Foundation.

Born in France, François currently lives in Barcelona and studied history of arts and cinema at the Autonoma University of Barcelona, graduating with a Masters in Documentary film.

François started to work with the PFC Foundation in February of 2010, coordinating the creation and development of the school in Mali and producing videos on the music programs. He currently serves as the director of education for the foundation and has been involved in the creation of new music programs in different countries such as Rwanda, Bangladesh and Brazil.

How we met:

“I met Mark, Jon, Kevin and Enzo when they came for their first shooting in Barcelona, during a jam session on the beach. When Mark explained the concept of Playing For Change and the idea of creating a version of “Stand By Me” around the world, I just could not believe it– I thought it was the most amazing idea ever for a musical documentary! We became friends and started to work together naturally because we were sharing so many points of views about music, life and filming.”
