Jose Agote

Argentina

Jose Agote was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In 1990, he recorded his first studio album with the band Los Ladrones Sueltos, which became a platinum selling record in Argentina and received nominations for the ACE Awards (the most prestigious distinction in the local music industry) in the categories of Best New Band and Best Song (“Con Una Rubia En El Avion”)

In 1992, Jose joined the band Los Dedos, who signed with Sony Music. During this time, he also produced the album El Primero for Los Polvos on Fonovisa Mexico.

In 1993, he formed the band Quebra Mola and recorded under the new label MyM of Argentina. Two years later, the band released its second CD, Boogie Vamp and toured throughout South America.

Jose became a member of Los Pinguos, in 1999, as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter.

How we met:

Jose Agote’s band, Los Pinguos, was one of the very first bands recorded by Playing For Change, featured on the Documentary film Playing For Change: A Cinematic Discovery of Street Music.
