Varadaiahpalem, Andhra Pradesh, India

Biography

Venkat has played with many music directors in Chennai, India and has recorded on some of India’s most famous films and TV programs. In addition to his local fame, he has performed abroad in over 15 countries. He is a master of all Indian percussion: Tabla, Mridangam, Kanjira, Ghatam, Dholak, Dolki, Ghatasinghari, Tavil,Pambai, Udukkai, Tape, Duff, Bass Dholak and Timing Instruments.

How we met:

When we began meeting musicians in Varadayapalem, India–only a short 2 hour drive from Chennai, we quickly discovered Venkat’s reputation as a percussion master. After learning about the project, he was excited to become a part of it, and has since performed on many of our Songs Around The World.
