Biography

Federico Fernandina is a composer and songwriter from Matera, Italy who’s mostly involved in producing music for TV and Film. His music spans the genres of orchestral, jazz, and contemporary pop/rock. A classically trained guitarist, he has studied jazz improvisation with Eddy Palermo, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jonathan Kreisberg and Enrico Pieranunzi and also studied with Brazilian guitar players Nelson Veras and Guinga.

His music has been featured in movies and shows such as the multi-Oscar winner, Dallas Buyers Club, Jennifer Westfeldt’s Friends With Kids, and the HBO series Big Love. In 2012, he won two Global Music Awards for the song “What We Are” and for the instrumental piece “Paradigma.”

In 2015, he collaborated with American writer Germaine Shames to write the musical You, Fascinating You which was a finalist at the 2015 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival.
