Stand By Me

Synopsis

Nine years ago while walking down the street in Santa Monica, CA, the Playing For Change crew heard Roger Ridley singing “Stand By Me” from a block away.  His voice, soul and passion set us on a journey around the world to add other musicians to his performance.

This song transformed Playing For Change from a small group of individuals into a global movement for peace and understanding. Over 35 musicians play on this track together from all over the world. While they may have never met in person, in this case, the music does the talking.

To support the growth and continuation of this movement, consider standing by us as a PFC member today!

Even now this early episode remains my favorite example of how PFC uses technology and music to bridge geographical, political, cultural, and linguistic divides. More teachers should use this kind of material to create cross-disciplinary lessons.
